[warning_box]Player stats are dead with the release of Black Ops 4. For the 2018 Call of Duty release Activision has decided to make a back-end platform switch away from Steam to their own Activision/Blizzard digital distribution platform called Battle.net. The real benefits are yet to be discovered – other than cost savings but hopefully it will at least bring some better anti-cheat for PC. However; with this platform change it means that it is no longer possible to collect player statistics for Call of Duty games from now and in the future on Battle.net. Steam offered access to a wealth of information on game back-end but Battle.net is an Activision product so that information is kept private. Since the Battle.net player statistics are not publicly accessible about the only “PC health” numbers we will get will be marketing/shareholder release statements if we are lucky.

I will do a final update of all the stats up to the point of the Black Ops 4 release soon here but that will most likely be the end of the player stats tracking.[/warning_box]

These are the Steam peak player count statistics for Call of Duty that I have been tracking for a few years. They are usually updated on a weekly basis on Monday morning but sometimes more often. If you are unfamiliar with what the Steam peak player count is; it is merely a point in the day when there are the most people in game at that given time – also known as concurrent users.

Many thanks to the numerous Steam data collection websites out there that I have relied upon over the years for analysis.
