Activision confirmed that the fourth and final Black Ops 2 DLC Map pack titled “Apocalypse” will be hitting the PC platform on Thursday September 26th.

This DLC drop will include two redesigned maps from previous Call of Duty games; one from the first Black Ops named Stadium now named Takeoff and another from World At War named Courtyard now named Dig. As I have said in the past it can be fun to re-experience maps from previous games but it bugs the crap out of me to be buying them all over again. DLC content that is being paid for should be entirely new content – not just copy and paste jobs with a few changes and different textures and graphics. If you want to bring these old maps back how about releasing them for free to whole community? Boy wouldn’t that really spark some excitement and boost some troop morale! To me it just seems that with the two re-skinned maps in this DLC and with the overall smaller, more linear design of all four maps having almost no verticality Treyarch was looking for a quicker push with somewhat minimal effort as it draws near to the end of life for Black Ops 2 with the release of Call of Duty:Ghosts just over 2 months away from today. You can check out the Apocalypse DLC gameplay trailer below if you haven’t seen it yet.

[blockquote align=”left”]FROST – Fresh snow meets explosive gunpowder in this snow-capped European city, where the bridge over a frozen canal separates it into two sides, requiring players to employ multi-level traversal strategies to outsmart and ultimately outshoot their enemies.[/blockquote]

[blockquote align=”left”]POD – A failed utopian community from the 70’s has left stacks of dilapidated residential pods nestled into an abandoned cliff side. Its residents long gone, the modernist compound now hosts frenetic combat as players must run atop the pods and navigate their multi-tiered interiors for a strategic edge.[/blockquote]

[blockquote align=”left”]DIG – Two archeological dig sites in Afghanistan have unearthed the perfect playground for combatants eager for hectic, unceasing battle, as this re-imagining of the fan-favorite Call of Duty®: World at War map “Courtyard” delivers two major chokepoints, a wide open layout, and raised platforms.[/blockquote]

[blockquote align=”left”]TAKEOFF – Though marooned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, this remote launch site is all about the close-quarters combat, combining tight corners with open spaces for combat encounters reminiscent of the multiplayer map “Stadium” from Call of Duty: Black Ops “First Strike.”.[/blockquote]

[blockquote align=”left”]ORIGINS – Treyarch’s deepest and most imaginative Zombies experience yet transports players to a Dieselpunk-themed First World War, where they will encounter the return of the four original characters from the very first Zombies map! Armed with an arsenal that includes Wonder Weapons that harness supernatural powers, a diesel-drone and Mark IV tank, as well a new perk machine and power-ups, our heroes will be challenged to fend off an infestation of undead that has overrun the war-ravaged French countryside, as well as the ruins of a mysterious and ancient location.[/blockquote]
